Skaramuča Plavac Mali is an unoaked, organic, dry red wine from Croatia’s Pelješac Peninsula, made from the Plavac Mali grape—a child of the ancient Dalmatian grape Crljenak Kaštelanski aka Zinfandel. This example is more approachable than other examples of the powerful grape, offering floral notes of violets and fresh red berries on the nose, followed by juicy plum and cherry flavors with earthy undertones on the palate, and a youthful, bright, yet structured character with firm tannins and acidity. This wine serves as an excellent introduction to the indigenous Croatian Plavac Mali variety.
