The Jordan family and friends planted their first vineyard in 2007 at Mount Airy Farm in Fort Defiance, Virginia. Midland Construction was originally the name of Ted Jordan’s carpentry business, founded in the 70s. In 2016 he passed the vineyard project to his three sons: Ben, Gray, and Tim, who operate as grape growers and wine producers today. The name, Midland Construction, acknowledges the work they do with their hands and backs, building a family wine business on the ridges and hillsides in the middle lands of the Shenandoah Valley.

Our vines are planted on limestone based soils that represent a diversity of ancient conditions, some 450 million years ago, when the Shenandoah Valley was a shallow sea. The Shenandoah Valley is historically cooler and drier than the rest of Virginia, lending to fresh, digestible, and vibrant wines.
